TORONTO, ON, April 23, 2019 — Each year, 1 in 6 Canadians have difficulty getting or staying pregnant. Many will require In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or Intrauterine insemination (IUI) to grow their families — yet, only 25 percent of transferred embryos go on to result in a live birth. Conceive Health is working to change that with a growing number of preconception fertility clinics in Ontario.

Conceive Health is one of the only Naturopathic clinics in Canada that is situated within a full-service fertility centre. Experts in natural fertility medicine, they work hand-in-hand with reproductive endocrinologists to ensure that patients have support before, during and after IVF, IUI or related treatments.

“The 100 days before conception, which is the date of implantation for fertility patients, is a critical period,” says Dr. Tracy Malone, Naturopathic Doctor and Co-Founder of Conceive Health. “During this time, the egg and sperm are susceptible to lifestyle habits, nutrition and the uterine environment — all factors which can be improved.”

With clinics now in Toronto, Whitby, Kitchener-Waterloo and soon Thornhill, Conceive Health plans to help as many fertility patients as possible to achieve their ultimate dreams of having a child.

“Infertility Awareness Week is a time to break the shame and stigma associated with fertility challenges and come together as a supportive community,” says Dr. Jennifer Fitzgerald, Naturopathic Doctor, Co-Founder of Conceive Health. “With proper preconception care, patients have a chance to optimize egg and sperm quality to achieve a healthy pregnancy — and ultimately improve fertility treatment outcomes.”

Since eggs take approximately 100 days to mature, and sperm takes up to 116 days to generate, the health of both parents during those days before conception is extremely important. A preconception plan is ideally a minimum of four months, but it is never too late to start. Conceive Health’s signature preconception program includes: lab analysis and testing, nutraceuticals, clinical nutrition, pre-and-post IVF or IUI acupuncture, lifestyle support and more. Working closely with the clinic’s infertility medical team, they ensure the best and most comprehensive quality of care.

It’s critical to optimize egg and sperm quality to achieve a healthy pregnancy. A personalized and holistic approach to preconception care can help infertility patients reach their reproductive potential.

Canadian Infertility Awareness Week is recognized from April 21 to 27, 2019.
